MySQL Databases

MySQL databases allow you to store important information in a format that can easily be read by other programs and systems. You can use MySQL databases to store customer information or as the backend for a shopping cart system. You can read information on how to use MySQL at the MySQL website.

From this area you can also manage your database by using phpMyAdmin, an easy to use web based interface for managing MySQL databases.

Password Protection

Website Password Protection allows you to password protect a directory on your website. Only people who have the password will be able to access the area.

Scheduled Tasks

Scheduled tasks allows you to enable programs to run automatically on the server at specific intervals. Please note that each account can only run 3 scheduled tasks.

Sub Domains

Sub domains allow you to have a new web address for separate areas of your website, for example you could have support.your-domain-name.com and point this at your your-domain-name.com/support/ directory. You can use sub domains in conjunction with additional FTP accounts, creating, in effect, simple hosting accounts with a sub domain and additional FTP accounts.

On each sub domain you add you also have full email capabilities, for example you could have an email box, forwarder, catch all forwarder or autoresponder on anything@what-ever-you-choose.your-domain-name.com.

Please note that subdomains take up to an hour to become active.

FrontPage Extensions

If you have used Microsoft FrontPage to design your website you will need to install the Microsoft FrontPage Extensions onto your account. You can also remove the Extensions using this tool.

Please note that installing FrontPage Extensions will break any custom .htaccess files you have in your public_html directory or any sub directory of public_html, including custom 404/500 error pages.

Change Your Passwords

This feature allows you to change your password for this control panel, FTP, FrontPage and SSH. As you enter your password the system will let you know if it is strong enough. You should use a mixture of letters, numbers and other characters (e.g. !, %, $)

IP Address Blocking

IP blocking allows you to block certain IP addresses or ranges from accessing your website.

Directory Indexing

Auto-Indexing allows you to either show the content of your web directories as file listings or show them as a "403 forbidden" error message (to stop people seeing files in your directories).

SSH Server Access

SSH server access allows you to log directly into the server your website is hosted on. You can manipulate your website files using Linux commands. SSH server access is for advanced users.

Website Redirect

A Website Redirect allows you to redirect www.your-domain-name.com or www.your-domain-name.com/any-folder/ to a different domain or web address.
